Pas de d'Eau by phantsythat Pas de d'Eau by phantsythat
Some words of wisdom from H.L. Mencken:

The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace in a continual state of alarm (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing them with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.

This clothes are very pretty and I like the movement. The wave represantation is very interesting, it's remember me the waves on the japanese prints!
Good luck for the contest ! :)

Thanks so much, Kafkami. Yes, I did have some fun with Hiroshige's Wave idea when I did this.
As for the contest, I'm hoping you win with your wonderful whale. :)

yes I love this - I love your framing patterns.
Also you have captured such a knowing expression, and kind of enigmatic I think -  on the woman

Thanks so much. There are times when I want to get the body of the
painting done just so I can get on with the border :)

I'm delighted you like her. A being mostly water dancing
with water seemed appropriate.

Hey Susan - I hope you are painting away this weekend.  We have Spring rain, which is not unusual.  I did some painting last night and now I am catching up on Social Media.

Hi Stephen - Yes, painting and going for long walks through the
parks and along the shore while the autumn weather remains
gentle. Later it will be walks in the snow and ice - definitely
of shorter duration :)

dA is my only social media other than blog - thank goodness.

this sounds wonderful - I am looking forward to that first evening when I realise I am working in my studio in shorts - still a way ahead
Walks in snow and ice sound exciting and cold
I love your woman in a rowing boat - resolve and humour - a great metaphor

It was a delightful surprise to see you'd been by to visit the blog, Stephen. I know you live in Oz but am I right that you live in Brisbane? I thought it stayed pretty hot there most of the time. While I'm not fond of very warm weather the winter cold and ice we get here stops being exciting by New Year and proceeds to become an aggravation :)
I like the way the rowboat picture turned out too. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to manage all that water.

yeah it's a great piece - I love the water.
Actually I live in Cape Town South Africa - in Somerset West which has been dragged into the greater metropole so that we can also have potholes and burst water-pipes.
We get cold for me here but not ice and snow, except on the peaks around us.
Have a great week
I am now back in consulting mode but came to see if I had a response from someone whose photo I used for a painting

I must have had Oz on the brain :) A long time ago I had some friends in London who grew up in Capetown (and returned there). They told me they noted the change in seasons by the flowers that bloomed at different times of the year. Pretty nice.

Be well. See you next time.

this is lovely  you have such an amazing style  very nice indeed

Yep - and since the world's war machine owns practical politics
some of the imaginary hobgoblins now carry sub-machine guns :faint:

Once again, I'm very pleased to hear you say so, Carole

They do indeed. Sometimes too fools hand machine guns to

......and eliminate themselves from the population
hopefully BEFORE procreation :giggle:
